New personnel hoist helps sailors get back on the water

Jul 2019

Dart Sailability have installed a new personnel hoist to provide a further access point for people with disabilities, including those in wheelchairs, to sailing and boating on the river Dart.  The hoist enables them to safely and comfortably transfer between a pontoon and a boat.

The Peter Harrison Foundation provided a grant of £3,500 towards the purchase and installation of the hoist, and to certify and train people to operate it.

Dart Sailability is based in Kingswear, Devon and exists to encourage anyone with a disability to take part and enjoy the sport of sailing or boating.
