Gold for young swimmer Leo McCrea

Oct 2018

14 year old swimmer Leo McCrea topped off an extremely successful season by winning his first English Senior Gold Medal in the 50m Butterfly Final at the 'English National 2018 Championships'. He also reached the finals of three other events and won Bronze in the 100m Breastroke final.

Earlier in the year at the 'British International Para Swimming 2018 Championships' in Sheffield, Leo qualified as the youngest swimmer in 4 Senior finals and won a hat trick of medals - Gold, Silver and Bronze.  As a result, he was invited for the first time to swim in the "able bodied" British National Championships, where he qualified for the finals in two events, and set personal bests in both!

He is now ranked in the top 10 British Senior Open Para Swimmers, at just 14 years old.

Leo is one of 25 disabled athletes who have been supported by the Peter Harrison Foundation through SportsAid.
