Higham Cricket Club is based in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. They have recently completed work on a new ECB approved practice facility with disabled access. This is a 3 lane facility with a synthetic surface for all weather use, and extended run ups to create more space for wheelchaired participants. It allows for multiple sessions to be held simultaneously as well as year round training.

The project cost a total of £70,000 and was supported by English Cricket Board (ECB), Peter Harrison Foundation and South Yorkshire Community Foundation.

The club is dedicated to the development of disability cricket. It is the home of Yorkshire County Cricket Club’s disability teams, who use the ground free of charge for their weekly training and as their home ground. This partnership started in 2019 and the new net facilities were designed to cater for their requirements. They are also an ECB Disability Champion Club, and work closely with the ECB and YCB to promote Disability Cricket, the Super 1s initiative and Lord Taverners programme. They are continuing to develop partnerships with local schools and colleges to provide free use of the training facilities, and they are working towards Super 1s Hub status.
