The Peter Harrison Foundation operates a proactive, invitation-only approach to grantmaking. We do not accept unsolicited applications, expressions of interest or funding requests. We identify partners ourselves based on strategic alignment with our mission and make a small number of large multiyear awards.

We make awards over 3 years to capacity-building organisations who deliver training, resources and development support to grass roots organisations at regional or national level. At least 50% of the award is re-granted to grassroots clubs and organisations.
PHF reviewed and changed its funding strategy to improve our impact and strengthen our ability to deliver our charitable objectives. This shift followed an unprecedented demand for support, with only about 7% of applications being successful. We recognise the time and resources organisations invest in preparing grant applications and want to avoid charities spending their valuable time on applications when the likelihood of success is so low.
Our mission remains: to empower individuals with disabilities or significant disadvantages to reach their full potential. Our refreshed approach emphasises building capacity within the charitable sector through a dual-layered funding model:
- Capacity-building organisations will receive awards to deliver training, resources, and development support to grass roots organisations at regional or national level. We aim to provide fewer but larger multiyear grants to organisations.
- Grassroots organisations will benefit from both capacity-building support and direct funding to create life-changing opportunities within their communities.
We will monitor progress, gather feedback, and refine our approach over time. PHF remains committed to listening, learning, and supporting the sector responsively to maximise impact.
We do not accept applications for these grants. The Trustees use these funds to support projects that are of particular interest to them, and which fall outside our main grant programmes.

All payments are made by bank transfer, and we use the Confirmation of Payee service to verify the identity of recipients.
Your grant offer letter needs to be signed by two of your trustees or senior members of staff and then returned to us within 2 months to accept your grant offer. You will be asked to log into the application portal and upload your signed grant offer letter and your organisation’s bank details. Once these are received, we will process your grant payment.

Yes. We will send you an email with a link to the form when your report is due. If you would like to submit your report earlier you can find the forms on the Submit your grant report page.
You will need to submit a brief report at the end of each year of your grant, and you will be sent an email reminder including a link directly to the grant report form. You will then have two months to submit your report. We can be flexible about reporting dates, so if this doesn’t fit with your project timescales then please get in touch to discuss a more appropriate schedule.
